“In Europe, the 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine offers 173 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque and can be paired to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic. It’s unclear if those specs will carryover to the U.S. powerplant, but do expect only an automatic transmission to be offered”

Mazda needs to put this Diesel and the 2.5L Turbo in the Cx5. It’s way past due.

I figured we’d see another RX model before the Skyactiv D got to the US.

In Europe the Mazda 2, 3, 6, 6 wagon and CX5 all get manual and automatic options too, both on the gas and diesel option s . Only the MX5 (Miata) doesn’t get a diesel. There’s nothing larger than the 6 and CX5.
German Mazda page (taxes included):
Note how they don’t picture the 3 and 6 sedan. You’ll have to select the hatch or wagon to choose the sedan body style. There’s no price difference between the two body styles with the 6, with the 3 the sedan is a few thousand more expensive than the hatch. I never see the sedan...

the 6 diesel has been one of those things which has been coming “real soon now” for like three, four years? Last I heard they were trying to certify it without urea SCR/AdBlue but couldn’t.
